Some while ago, most of the visitors and even locals were not fond of Raval. It was a “no go zone” because it was unsafe and dangerous. However now, its a popular hangout for the bohemian crowd with its cool cafes & delicious restaurants and always on festive streets.
Bir zamanlar çoğu yabancının “yok oraya gitmeyin”, “gece eve dönerken Raval’den yürümeyin” dediği Raval, şuan Barcelona’nın en gözde semtlerinden biri. 1- Head to Caravelle for breakfast which is famous with its yummy “Huevos Rancheros”. Menu is constantly evolving; coffee is from the city’s best Nomad. Don’t be late, there is always a que and favorites run out quick.
Sabah kahvaltısı için muhteşem “Huevos Rancheros”u ile Caravelle‘e gitmeli. Menüsü sürekli değişiyor, kahveleri şehrin en iyisi Nomad’dan geliyor. Yanlız çok geç kalma, menü’deki favoriler erken bitiyor.
2- Just in front of Caravelle, there is Nuovum. It’s a shop that has natural objects, beautiful plants and simple jewelry designs.
Karşısında hemen Nuovum var. Doğal objeler, güzel bitkiler ve yalın takı tasarımlarının birleştiği bir dükkan.
3- Raval is on the right of La Rambla. Everyone knows the La Bouqeria market on La Rambla, you go in and eat some exotic fruits. What everyone does not know is “El Quim de la Bouqeria” in that market. My mouth is watery whenever I recall baby octopus with scrambled eggs.
Raval, La Rambla’nın sağında kalıyor. La Rambla üzerindeki La Bouqeria marketini herkes bilir, içeri girip değişik görünümlü meyvelerden yersin. Asıl herkesin bilmediği, o marketin içindeki “El Quim de la Bouqeria“. Üzerine göz yumurta kırılmış sahanda bebek ahtapotu hatırladıkça ağzım sulanır.
4- A word I repeatedly hear in El Pachuco: Insane! It’s the best Mexican in the city. Their nachos and tacos are to die for. And I am not even exaggerating.
Öğle yemeği için yine ağlatan bir tercih: El Pachuco. Burası Meksika mutfağı. Sadece nachos, tacos ve quesadilla var menüsünde. Yanında da acılı bira. Kesinlikle en iyi meksikalı!
5- Xurros is a famous street dessert in Spain. And I love Granja M. Viader the most.
Ispanya’nın Xurros’u meşhur. Ben en çok Granja M. Viader‘inkini severim.
6- For coffee you can go to Lukumas (owned by Greek Petros) or El Colectivo.
Kahve için Yunanlı Petros’un sahibi olduğu Lukumas‘a veya El Colectivo‘ya gidebilirsin.
7- Raval is a heaven in terms of designer boutiques. Try Les Topettes for artisanal perfumes, Fantastik for extraordinary objects.

8- If you have 2 hours, spend it in MACBA. It’s not only a museum, but a signiture building representing transformation of Raval. In the long stairs ahead, children of all ages and nationalities ride skateboards and listen to music. Before going there, check the current exhibitions from its website.

9- Raval hid one of the city’s finest tapas restaurants behind La Rambla. It is Bar Cañete. Here is my proposal for you: Make a reservation at least 3 days before you go / if you are two, sit in the bar / forget your diet / trust your waiter. Happiness is guaranteed.

10- You had a beautiful day, had the best food; now you need a coctail to put you to sleep. Head to Boadas Cocteleria. One of the oldest cocteleria’s in the city.
